Dr. Abbasi
Dr. Aisha Abbasi is a Training and Supervising Analyst at the Michigan Psychoanalytic Institute and one of its recent past presidents. She is also a Supervising Analyst at the Florida Psychoanalytic Center, Miami, and a member of the Tampa Bay Psychoanalytic Society. She is the author of the book The Rupture of Serenity: External Intrusions and Psychoanalytic Technique and the Co-Editor of the book Privacy: Developmental, Cultural, and Clinical Realms. She has contributed several book chapters and psychoanalytic articles.
Most of Dr Abbasi’s scholarly work is centered on the study of the day to day, minute by minute, clinical interactions going on in the analyst’s office, and how much there is to explore in, and learn from, such interactions. She is a member of the Board of Directors of the Psychoanalytic Quarterly. Dr Abbasi is in the private practice of psychoanalysis, psychotherapy, and psychiatry, and practices both in Tampa, FL and West Bloomfield, MI. She’s also a poet in her mother tongue Urdu, and her collection of Urdu poetry was published in Pakistan.
Dr Abbasi enjoys teaching developing psychiatrists in Residency Programs, and mentoring psychoanalytic candidates and early career analysts. She’s a sought after presenter, teacher, and supervisor/consultant, both nationally and internationally.
